(English) The Global Platform for the Right to the City has been awarded specific funding by the Ford Foundation to implement a planning process during 2017. This process allows for an in-depth evaluation of our past achievements while giving us space to debate what should be our next steps.
(English) Sao Paulo was the first stop of a global planning process that the Global Platform for the Right to the City (GPR2C) is implementing in 2017. More than 32 participants from 20 different member organizations participated in the meeting, which focused on an evaluation of the Platform’s work during the last years, and the concept of the Right to the City and the Platform’s organizational nature.
(English) Despite the creation of a citizen council in each popular district and the obligation to “co-produce the urban project”, the second urban project in La Villeneuve (Grenoble, France) is still promoting a top-down approach and plans the demolition of one hundred social housing units. A strategic alliance between grassroot movements and international networks has proven to be effective to denounce the current state of affairs.
(English) In January 2017, YUVA (Youth for Unity and Voluntary Action) conducted a 10 day course for 19 youth from marginalised settlements in Mumbai, India. The course ‘Youth and Inclusive Cities’ brought together youth who have engaged with issues in their communities to bring about change at the local level. They engaged on global agendas on sustainability, inclusivity and rights through education on concepts and examples of movements towards realising them.
(Español) Ciscsa / Red Mujer y Hábitat, Femges (UNC) y otras instituciones de la Articulación Feminista Mercosur organizaron el Seminario-Taller “Mujeres y ciudad: (in) justicias territoriales” en la Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina. Más de 100 grupos estuvieron presentes y se comprometieron a crear una red de género para la incidencia en las políticas de hábitat, para garantizar los derechos de las mujeres y la diversidad de identidades sociales.

(English) Brazilian civil society organizations, gathered in São Paulo on May 31 of 2016, come through the present Statement to express themselves about the content of the New Urban Agenda (NUA), to be adopted at Habitat III.
